Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
I'm sure his current portfolio beats the pants out of any of those listed here but...
I'll try list some relative terms I own in Japanese his wholesalejewelry.com - my Diamond, platinum, gold his freevacation.com ecruise.com etrip.com MY - CheapVacation(Travel), CheapTickets, CheapHotel, OverSeasHotel His - ereservations.com My - OnlineReservations His - emovie.com My - MovieDownloads His - virtualdiet.com My - Calories, or Sweat His - ejoke.com My - Bloopers(Happening) His - stockinsider.com My - StockExchange, DayTrader His - unemployed.com My - Moonlighting, TempingAgency(keep forgetting the best way to say in English), CareerInfo His - discountprice.com My - Sale.com His - indiancasino.com, ebet.com, ebingo.com ,jackpotbingo.com,indiancasino.com, dailydouble.com My - Roulette, PokerAffiliates, CasinoAffiliates These are all com & jp And I think we can try to learn from his regs before 2000 & I hope I had the same strategy he was thinking back then. Also he's rich & I'm not yet so his currently portfolio we might not be able to touch... But I'll play matchup with the old portfolio... |

I love digital pipe lines bringing you money 24x7! |
Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
I've narrowed down the search
Rick Schwartz is a poster on the board. He has thousands of IDNs. His alises are "Rubber Duck" and "Drewbert" I think he is posting from two different IPs. ;-) ...j/k |

Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
Those stats on Ricks domains tell you one thing.
When you get in the game at the point where you get pure generics. OVT isn't the major factor. Do you see Rick mention OVT for his domains at that point? Is he filthy rich now? When all the generics get exhausted then PPC, search, & other factors will determine what will sell or not. |
Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
In this stage we should, IMHO, use OVT to point the best generics.
For instance, I have a list of 100.000 domains, all generics. Which ones should I pick? (I do have the list ;) |

When you earn $10-20k a month from a name early in the game, you do not bother about OVT. We're all playing with OVT because we aren't earning that $$$$ a month from names, so we can't use $ to compare. Btw, Rick made it clear he was earning 5 figure money from some of his names when the internet community is 10% of the number of firefox users today. How true is that and what is the reason? |
Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
I'm not saying we shouldn't use it.. I'm just saying for many of the domains we are able to get, we should be looking at the industry first, & what kinds of figures that industry makes.
I'd personally like to have Cars, diamonds, pearls, watches, yatchs, personal loans, before perhaps cool, sweet, etc.. which may have a way higher OVT rate. Quote:

I never heard of Overture before year 2000, people were still researching ways to advertise on the net. Ye Yun was the master in exploiting domain traffic, news about his success led to the explosion of domain registration from 25M .com in December 2002 --> 50M today.

Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
Rick Schartz has done very well for himself and the ASCII situation was always tough. Realistically though Giant's portfolio will make him look like a sick parrot.

Re: Can you Beat out Rick Swartz Top 50 ?
What's missing from the list are some of his top adult names, which are probably making him $10,000+ a day (or at least were back in the good old days of the adult industry).
More generally, names that can bring in thousands of dollars a day from their typein traffic are going to be worth much more than industry-defining domains that come with zero traffic. After all, the former are a "business" in and of themselves, in the sense that owning a $1,000 a day name generates a $365,000 a year income - a very healthy figure - whereas owning an ultra-hot generic with no traffic is a POTENTIAL goldmine - and potential alone doesn't get the big bucks, usually. |

One name makes $10,000 a day? Can't imagine any name that makes $10,000 a day, other than sex.com or poker.com. I doubt that even all the close to a million IDNs combined can make $10,000 a day. |
