Why do I frequently drop a little character when cutting-and-pasting?

For instance, if I use the mouse to highlight 'latin' لاتينية and then cut, I drop the first char on the left alot of the time.

If I use shift-arrows to highlight the word, then it seems to cut fine.

I know, typical noob questions!

Great name! My business is in selling software on the internet, and Arabic customers from UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia buy almost as much software as the entire EU - just to give an idea of the wealth and spending power given that the EU is 30 times the population.

Yes, Arabic Script is notoriously difficult, be careful with Thai as well! It is to do with the fact that letters don't follow sequentially from left to right.
