With the German OVT score of only 13850, this translates (no pun intended) to a hell of a valuation for our IDNs.

Yes, and don't forget that includes all those that typed in without the Umblatt!!!

Still you have to admire the German's when it comes to sticking the old hand in the pocket! Probably not purely due to unwarranted generosity, I suspect though!.

Cool

The unimpressive €0.17 top bid on Yahoo for "übersetzer" only supports our ideas.

I am already calculating what happens if I get almost $2 for every OVT score on my IDNs.......:-)

Yes, I think, however, we might be missing the point. Translators are early adopters with IDN. Clearly, Translation is one of the first services needed to get the Websites of an underdeveloped Internet nation up and running. I have Translation in Japanese and that gets loads of traffic.

The other point here is that what the Translator is offering is accuracy of translation, for which they are being paid a small fortune. They could hardly settle for a URL without the proper accented letters, could they?

I agree. The translation, however, is mostly CPM based and is probably doing very low CTR. When I use AV's BF, I never click on anything. What I mean is, I'd rather have low traffic with creditcards.com or refinance.com than tons of traffic with translate.com.

I look at it in terms of expected value, but I guess that's what you do when you stare at probabilities all day: traffic x ctr x $

Well speculation isn't a Science, so probability theory sounds good to me.

Translation's definitely a good term. I mistakenly thought the japanese translation domain was Olney's - it's Dave.
