Honestly, the things some .com'ers will do to try
and bump up prices. If any of these antics are
ever taken seriously then those involved will
need to watch out because they WILL get found
out and that won't look good for the idn.com

This is a Chinese Story and can and will be seen in that context. Many ASCII that don't make any sense to me are going for many times this amount. It will make people in China ask where the market is going. Will this hit DNJournal, I doubt it. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if something substantial that does real soon from an end Buyer in China. These guys are not mugs and they aren't all poor either!

is exposed as a fraud then '.com' is on the road to

If the orginal buyer is a member of this forum and indeed the domain was only registered a few days ago, then he has been pretty swift and pretty stupid both at the same time.

My buyer, however, seems to be moving forward so keep your eyes peeled on DNJournals for a good 5 figure sales, for a domain that is really worth an awful lot more than that!

The sad thing is, I thought this was a hoax the moment I saw the post title. This kind of stunt doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the legitimacy of the market. On the other hand, I guess any publicity is good publicity. A few more people who have never looked into IDN before may be able to see past this isolated incident and open their eyes to the real potential of IDNs.

A lot of news like this is a hoax. And because people are willing to spend the money to buy news stories to promote the .net market just shows that the market is alive and well. This is great news.

Yeh, common, bribing reporters to write "news" is peanuts. Advertising on CCTV would cost a bomb in contrast.

With the kind of situation IDNs are in, any news, including bad news or fake news is still good news. With IE7, we're now at tipping point, it could go worst or better - but the chances are lower for better, me thinks, especially if we compare with the response to .Mobi.

The domain is created in August 1, 2006

on July 31,a merchant in Zhejiang submitted an application that he wanted to register 中央一套（=央视一套=cctv1）as the trademark of his product---condoms.

The surprising news was post on the web and quickly spread everywhere. Peoples on the net talked a lot about it and they all thought the Zhejiang guy was funny and creative .

The next day,August 1, 2006,there came the smart AD

A newspaper in shanghai reported the a piece of news that they haved received a call from a Mr.He ,a local shanghai guy, who said he wanted to give the domain 央视一套.NET to CCTV for free.According to the newspaper, this domain was bought by him from a Japanese for 100,000 USDs.The reason was simple: he loves China and he does not like the domain owned by a foreigner!

This news was also exploded on the web but a lot of people doubted its reality.They thought it a smart AD of the owner for the timing was so good !

however,CCTV is rather quiet to this all the time!
