In short, a Shanghainese buys back name (央视一套.NET) from a foreign invester for $100K and gives it to the authority for free.

This IDN was registered for the "first" time just 3 days ago, 8-1-06.

What i'm saying is that the IDN market is still at its infancy so nothing that undermines the true "brand" of IDN will be bad publicity. The IDN community should really be "Anything I can get" in terms of a PR standpoint... get them people excited, get them people buying. Better that they know than not.

Everything I've read about China says to me that "they'd" be quite happy if everyone uses idn.cn and nobody knew about idn.com and idn.net

I imagine this news has woken a few people from hypnosis, that now realise that IDN isn't just .cn
