Anyone getting traffic on chinese IDN?

I'm new to this, maybe that's why I'm paranoid... I've registered 17 chinese IDN so far, but not a single hit. Is it just me?

That's a general issue at the moment, the problem is probably caused by the chinese government.

Maybe they are blocking foreign idn.com in favor of their national idn.idn (com) ?

No, parking services are blocked in China (or Sedo blocked Chinese traffic - i do not know which way).

Shanghai.com or 上海.com is Alexa - 1,584,231. The guy doesn't use parking service - he uses adsense instead.

I believe 1,584,231 translates to hundreds of hits.

I think it all down to DNS tinkering by the Chinese which I believe are currently redirecting IDN.com to dot CN.

If ICANN come through and offer IDN.IDN to China, which is almost a foregone conclusion, on implementation the Chinese will almost certainly revert their DNS servers back so they workin the same way as they do everywhere else.

I have had short burst coming out of China. Traffic has jumped from 2 to 3 a day to 150 or more and then back again. The traffic is almost certainly there in China in substantial quantities, but we are not getting that. Having said that I think Chinese Government is doing us a huge favour as they have done more than anyone to push this thing through!

Best Regards
Dave

Cannot really say, I took some dot CN to see if there was more traffic there than dot com but didn't really find that to be the case, but I only have a handful of dot CN.

Best Regards
Dave

It's possible to access idn.com from within China - there's no complete block, although i found out that Sedo is heavily penalized. I did managed to access chinese idn.com domains from Xiamen and a Shanghai data center.

Not sure what problems they got with the network, i can't imagine all xn-- domains, including german, french, etc being blocked - and how to operate on a global business environment that way. When it comes to business and money, Chinese officials react faster to opportunities than their international peers. Ultimately, things move fast in China, it's only a couple years ago, in 1989 that China squashed the democratic rebellion on Tianamen Sq, embargoes were placed, and most foreigners ran away.

I'm going to experiment parking 1 or 2 domains with traffic on my China located DNS server.

Meanwhile, one of my chinese portal .com typo parked on Sedo suddenly had significant "traffic" for the past 10 days, and it's not spike but consistent traffic. Dave, have you checked your stats?

I have nothing pointed at Sedo at the moment as it is all pointed here!

We had a similar but short lived surge last autumn.

Will try to find out if certain domains are more active on the Stats from Domainsite.com and report.

Best Regards
