i have thought to show some of the IDNs i have picked up for appraisals or to discuss about them, but i feel IDNers usually don't play a fair game. If i say i just bought a japanese IDN and i want to know what u guys think like lets say a word like パソコン。jp -laptop- i feel many members immediately try to go before to reply my post and try to register any other extensions like パソコン.net, etc. and worst! later they said "i just registered this and that because of you thanks!" id say thanks my $%#$%#!
Fair? i think it is not fair because I mean i just wanna know if the IDN is good to see if i should buy more extensions but then it seems a stupid idea to show my IDNs because when i do all other extensions will be taken by opportunistic IDNers who cant think by their own.
second and similar attitude that i found unfair is that if i say i found some great IDNs available in a X area or something like that and what people think about me registering IDN in that area, and then voila! everyone begins to register similar IDNs in that area. i feel there is too much copycat.
anyway it is everyone feeling the same way? what's the benefit to show your IDNs if people will just go for the area you are registering IDNs or they will try to register all other possible available extensions to your IDN? I know IDN is a business, u do it or someone will but then what about forums like this one? I think Olney and other members understand what i mean because many of Olney's IDNs are going through too many "copycat" registrations in this forum after he shows what he register.
Although I admire the girl/member from Greece in here because she also helps people telling them possible or better variations to the greek IDNs. but other members are just copying what others are registering.
Anyway, i guess japanese ethics is a bit different and thats why im afraid to show any IDN i have sold or i have bought to avoid people copycat what im doing. Are people here to help people with their doubts about their IDNs or to copycat what they are registering?
