I think you have the right translation for Web Log. which is what the term Blog has been shortened from.
The Chinese are also very good at Shortening, and although it hasn't happened to any great degree as yet I am inclined to think that 网记 will possibly become more general in future. I have therefore registered:
xn--ur0a86w.com 网记 Blog???
Very speculative, but it will be interesting.
Best Regards

网络日记 translates into Web Diary - a twin-word term.
Blog is 博客.
If we go by latin domains, Twin-words are lower in value then single-words. E.g. loans.com is worth many times of bankloans.com.

Just have to ask a native speaker to be sure. Might even be different region to region. In the US, Words and phrases differ region to region, and there are many dialects totally mixing languages such as "Gullah", a mix of African and English spoken in the Sea Islands where I live. The slang words throughout the English can fill a dictionary.
In South Carolina where I live "Shag" is the offical stage dance...they have shag festivals, shag clubs, its been around for 50 years. We never even heard the word used otherwise until Austin Powers movies came out. Over in England it mean to "Screw", of course we have lots of fun with European tourists when they see advertisements for Shag Nights which are common here...

博客 is not a slang word, it's a direct translation from English. The pinyin for 博客 is 'Bo-Ke'.

色情小說.com -> EroticNovels in traditional Chinese. EroticNovels had been in existence since medieval china.

Another term 网络日志 means the same thing but is more preferable, simply to differentiate it from diary (日记). Hower, both of them worth only a fraction of 博客.
夜店 basically means Night-Shop, but it has started to mean Night Club among the youth in Taiwan, and its popularity has gradually spreaded to Hong Kong and Southern China.
