.JP vs .COM/.NET

Over the past several months, I have seen a huge difference between .jp revenue versus .com/.net. Even with the same domain names in .jp & .com/.net, the .JP is outperforming .COM/.NET by a huge margin.

Is anyone else noticing this?

BTW, ever since the .JP dropped to $40 for two, I have been going back through my Japan lists. Got some really nice .JPs today!

Re: .JP vs .COM/.NET

Can I ask if this is revenue in Asia?
There are now Japanese on the search for domains too.
There's a few good strategic mentions of things in the Domaining marking on some Japanese blogs. Sure to jumpstart interest in domaining.
jp drops sometimes produce good revenue too.

Yes, Asia of course. My .coms don't compare to my .jps in any region at all. Hands down, .jp is better. Of course, that is only my experience. And I don't have tokyo dot com or anything near that caliber.

Anyway, that is why I am going back after a lot of .JPs that I ignored because of the price tag. My .jp porfolio is now 150% bigger than last month. I went after decent domains (インテリジェンス.jp) and even some low ovt high bid gambles (チップ.jp, 低利.jp) if I already had the dot com and/or dot net.

Just wondering if anyone else was seeing a difference.

Re: .JP vs .COM/.NET

It might be a matter of keywords.
I got over 200 jps just like a few others here.
I thought of it like the Germans think of .de & Chinese think of .cn
I was able to buy way more better keywords in jp
But since many still aren't indexed I'm not getting significant traffic.

For all IDNs we'll know which is better when natives (or us) start building IDN sites that either the young folk, tech people, or business go to everyday.

We actually don't need natives to do this though. English based technology is cheaper & better than Japanese web technology. This is the case in many languages.

But while many just assume IDN.com will be better I'd suggest picking up .jp, & cn if you are not satisfied yet.

Same keyword, same domain except extension.
