I have only tried a few solutions during the beta and most recently this one:
Internet Explorer 7 running side by side with IE6. (standalone) But IDNs don't seem to work in the limited standalone mode. (Not even Punycode.) That site also has another option to install older versions of IE: Install multiple versions of IE on your PC I need to keep a fully functional IE6 for design and compatibility testing. I also run Opera and Firefox, but I would like to be able to check my sites on IE7 for any problems. I could always install IE7 on another machine, but it would be best to be able to work on all broswers side by side. Has anyone found a good IDN compatible solution to run IE6 and IE7 together?

Re: Running IE7 Standalone alongside IE6?
Thanks for the suggestions. At first glance, the evolt IE6 seems to be much more functional than any of the IE7 standalones I've tried.

Re: Running IE7 Standalone alongside IE6?
yup - thats always been the dilemna for developers... IE browsers have always wanted to use shared dll files and cant peacefully co-exist together. VNC is a great solution, using a laptop with old version on it may work, running IE6 in WINE emulator under linux, or using VMWare are all viable solutions. It al depends on your development process!
There's also a website, I forget the URL, where you could schedule your site to be checked by pretty much any browser. It goes in a queue and a little while later - you can see it rendered on whatever OS/Browser combination you want. |
