More Dopa.com Headaches

This message is displayed when logging into a Dopa.com account:

"Due to external effect , dopa.com suspend providing DNS resolving service , each member please use cname to resolve DNS from now on , sorry for caused incovenience. For those members who have domains with a large amount of traffic , we strongly suggest to change DNS settings right away."

Now, I'm basically a DNS newbie, but I believe DNS management is only available in the "full service" registration at Domainsite. The "basic" registration only allows you to change the Nameservers. Is this a show-stopper for most of us?

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

By CName, do they mean URL forwarding or have we got to do something clever?

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

I am reading this right or am I wide of the mark?

Technically there is a problem trying to do parking from the forwarding of Nameservers, but it can be achieved by URL forwarding?

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

I'm experiencing the same thing. The traffic for the past 2 days have been 1/5 of the normal traffic.

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

It has not been possible to sign up at their site for some weeks.

Had an email from them about 2 months ago to say that it would be about 2 weeks before they would resolve "technical problems"

Looks like it is going belly up - where to from here?

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

Another announcement from Dopa:

"The browser, which did not install the plug-in-soft of IDN, can not reach the IDN in china this time. It is happened before, but it was good again in a short time."

No sure exactly what this means. Are Silverclicks folks seeing the same drop in traffic?

Aren't Dopa and Silverclicks the same group?

Yes, they are the same group. I'm just surprised we haven't heard from our Chinese members about this traffic drop. They may also get more information about what's going on then us Dopa members.

One thing I know is the traffics are down, and SC is trying to fix the problem. But what caused the problem? I have no clues.

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

Maybe the verisign deal with the chinese registry has something to do with this, blocking all idn's with normal gtld's in favor of the chinese solution ?

Try to be logical. The problem exists whether you are parking dot com or dot cn.

Re: More Dopa.com Headaches

I missed that, I assumed a discrepancy between the two for the sake of argument.

Is there no chinese speaker that can call them to get a complete picture ?
