Who cares? Gold is a pretty yellow metal that sits their and does sod all. It doesn't generate any wealth. At best it is a hedge against fear.

Even the Bank of England realised that sitting on big heaps of Gold was a bloody waste of resources.

Selling of the Gold Reserves was probably one of the key moves that turned the British Economy around.

Gold is a concept that is rooted in Medieval times. Before that things like Sea Shells were used. Time to for financial system to become of age and leave gold for such useful purposes as providing non-corrodable electrical contacts and the like.

Re: Gold prices?

I believe Gold is now overpriced beyond its fundamentals. The direction for investment would be technology and Healthcare/Caregiving.

The west cannot grow without technology as it cannot compete with India and China in Labour/Service Intensive areas. Technology drives productivity which drives growth.

As you know the population in the west is aging and the reproduction rate in industrialized countries is about 1%. Nursing homes for the elderly is a great business that you can invest in many stock markets around the world. Healthcare both medical device and pharmaceuticals/biotech would also do well.

To recap, I believe technology and healthcare would lead the next market bull run.

Cheers!

Re: Gold prices?

Business seems to be booming for medical vacations to BKK huh? Count me in.

Agree w/all re: gold. Investing in gold is investing in fear. Optimists who see opportunities in the world, like domainers, have no business in gold except as decorative jewelry.
