The Fate of Arabic Domains

Looking at a different view at what can happen to Arabic Domain Names, this point of view concentrates on Selling IDNs Vs. Building Big and Worthy IDNs

From the Sellers View

imagine a snow ball that will start rolling from a mountain, IDNs will start selling small , and the next seller will want to get more profit, so they will sell with a higher price. until this snow ball will get so big it will crash.

From the Visitor View

the visitor will see a lot of Arabic domain names that do not have content just AdNonSense advertisements for the months to come, this will bring the visitor to realize that old fashioned Arabic sites will do for now, and they will stop visiting Arabic Domains.

The Challenge

For us to make the Arabic User Internet Population to switch to using Arabic domains for all their daily internet browsing, this will be only accomplished by having major sites (or major Arabic Sites) switch to Arabic domains (or at least have a another domain name) pointing to their site.

When we have 100-200 major sites have IDNs, visitors will realize that Arabic Domains are an important part of everyday browsing, this will bring demand to IDNs and will raise its value.

The Point

If you have a Great Idea, a few dollars for hosting, and the knowledge to build a content worthy site, Do It, you will actually make your Arabic domain name with a site worth a lot more, and it will make the value of your other IDNs without sites increase.

Pepsi did it, why can't you !

Re: The Fate of Arabic Domains

For those of us that are non-Arabic speakers with mixed portfolios, Arabic was never expected to deliver huge early returns. The initial excitement is likely to come from Japan, followed by Russia, or possibly the other way around. It is likely that these places are going to benefit for early traffic and hence early development.

I think it will be down to native speakers to get Arabic up and running.

I'm just hoping we're not going to wait a year till we start developing, even basic sites. I've already started talking to people to see what I can do about getting 10-15 names developed before January.
