Question Is This Really Correct Japanese?

大韓民国.jp

I recently got this believing it to be Korea.JP but I'm uncertain this is correct because of the fairly small number on Google (1 360 000 with " ") and because of the total lack of Google images for this term.

I am very grateful for any comments on this.

Re: Is This Really Correct Japanese?

Asians might recognize it better than me
Looking through Yahoo Japan I would assume it's "Republic of Korea"

Thanks Olney, so nobody probably uses this in everyday searches ...

Think it is a keeper anyway?

Re: Is This Really Correct Japanese?

I don't know actually.
One of the official names might be Republic of Korea but I'm not sure.
I think on the Korean Embassy site they might use the term.
I mean take England for example
England
Great Britain
United Kingdom
I got plenty of friends from the UK & they use all 3.

In other words I wouldn't say it's bad it just might not be searched a lot.

Re: Is This Really Correct Japanese?

I believe that this is a direct translation from korean, means Republic of Korea in Kanji. Although this is the main term in Korea, not sure about in Japan though, whether they use the short form 韓国 instead.

Yup, google trends says 韓国 is the main term.

Thanks!

Careful there Sunshine!

I've got friends that start windmilling when they hear people claim England and United Kingdom are interchangeable terms!

Re: Is This Really Correct Japanese?

I know all 3 aren't the same (I personally don't know the difference though I'll learn on my first trip to London, when I hi-5 the Queen)
But If I think of it in US terms

USA
United States
Unites States of America
US
America

Japanese will search for America
But 米国 is also correct & used in news media
Republic of Korea might be used in more official news media etc.

England is イギリス
Also it's 英国
