Re: How many of you have eaten this fruit before?

What is it?

I had some real strange and kinda disgusting fruit once in South America, it was almost as chewy as gum, was yellow like the one you show and tasted similar to cheese! But it was all cut up so I couldn't see what it really looked like.

Re: How many of you have eaten this fruit before?

Depending upon how it is prepared some may consider it a bit salty.

It is sometimes refered to as the 'king of fruit'

No the answer isn't Richard Simmons.

You can get durian in South America? I always thought it was an SE Asian fruit.

They're banned on flights because they smell of garbage.

Re: How many of you have eaten this fruit before?

Wow, a great majority of ppl here don't know what this is.

As for taste - it tastes like custard?

The smell is bad though. Anyone who says it smells good should smell one that has gone rotten for 2 weeks!

Still, it smells better than this!! -->

I didn't know of durian before - fascinating!

I don't know if it was durian or not that I got at this rather fancy hotel in north Argentina on the border to Brazil just by the famous falls Cataratas de Iguazu (featured in the Jeremy Irons and Robert de Niro film The Mission), all fruits served there I supposed were local produce.

Durian might be the perfect dessert for a meal of Rocky Mountain Oysters.

I do not believe it is a durian, they would never serve a durian in a hotel, or risk making the place smell like gabbage! :p
