GoDaddy offers $5.99 reg's til 12/31

Note: GoDaddy does not register IDNs.

The world’s largest domain registrar, GoDaddy, is offering special pricing on .com domain names through the end of the year — $5.99 plus $.25 ICANN fee, or $6.24 total. The pricing is not good for renewals and transfers. In order to get this special pricing, customers must enter coupon code gdh1219a during checkout.

It makes you wonder why any would bother. There are no useful ASCII dot coms left to register and saving 50 cents is hardly a good excuse to go out and waste over $6!.

Perhaps this is recognition that the hype for ASCII dot com sales is finally running out of places to hide.

I found the source over at DNF, so they get the credit.
Just sharing with those that don't go there.

I think Go Daddy regular rate is $8.95 for .com new regs!

So it will take them less than 6 months to claw back what they have charged below the going market rate, unless you check out to another registrar.

So what exactly is it about dot mobi that makes it worth twice the price of an ordinary dot com. Am I missing something?

Nothing that I can see!
But maybe some one has a plan for putting content on tiny screens,
maybe one of those in-head implants with eyeball magnifier.

The Google approach sums it up!

If you go to Google.mobi it tells you exactly how to undertake mobile browsing.
Basically, it just tells you just type in Google.com. How much simpler can it get?

That's what I've always done! It pushes you to the mobile screen automatically. The only thing missing on my Mobile IE is IDN compatibility.
