Re: some chinese names
I am interested on portable. But the big question is, how can you prove that really means "portable" I mean,
The 便 biàn, means convenience, ease; expedient
The 攜 xī, means lead by hand, take with; carry
The 式 shì means style, system, formula, rule
Thanks.

Re: some chinese names
About your "portable", which they said it's ok, don't you think it should have more than the 5 results on OT? I mean, with so many portable mp3 players and devices these days... The top result is "Portable chiller". Maybe it's more like "transportable", no?

Re: some chinese names
the term is definitely correct. for hk there's another 20 searches, for portable dvd.
http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...5%BC%8F&mkt=hk
Maybe people just don't search for it, or there exists more popular terms, but i can't think of any.

Re: some chinese names
Thanks kenne, I just got a second opinion from domain.club, the names should refer to "hand-held".

Re: some chinese names
I just got my third opinion from nameslave @ dnforum.
I can now definitely say that the terms definitely mean "portable" in the sense of "hand-held" devices.

Re: some chinese names
Do you trust those dudes on Domain Club TW? They might be making a fool out of you... I've heard about this somewhere... just be carefull my friend.
I don't speak Chinese, however it doesn't makes sense that for a hand-held term you got BIG chillers as search pictures results. Just my 2cents.

Re: some chinese names
Most likely people are just too lazy to search "portable" in most context. But it's definitely used.
Baidu runs lots of ads on it and returns 2 Million results:
http://www.baidu.com/s?wd=%22%B1%E3%D0%AF%CA%BD%22&cl=3
Most of the ads are talking about some kind of portable version of a big piece of machinary, in such cases, the portable qualifier would make a lot of difference.
That is a good sign.

I got 3 different opinions stating that it means "portable"
1) domain.club.tw, 1,5 years ago
2) Kenne
3) nameslave at dnforum : http://www.dnforum.com/f60/please-do...?highlight=idn
I am passed the "naive" phase jose

Can you talk openly about this ? Maybe you can pm me, thanks.
Jose, the chinese ovt doesn't work and I don't think taiwanese or hong kong ovt (traditional chinese) is by definition representative for the chinese ovt.
Good night, this idn'er is getting some shut eye.
