Anonymous Bidding

Suppose you have an acution here.

1. Someone bids.
2. Buyer posts "sorry, already sold to anoymymous via PM".

There is only accountability here due to the public posting of domains as sold or bid on, with timestamps.

If somoene wanted to remain anoymous, I think they should create an account, never post, and use it only to bid by posting messages.

Otherwise, there is too much room for manipulation of all sides.

This addresses the comment I made in my recent sales thread.

The only way to close the auction to an anonymous winner would be if there was a BIN attatched to the auction. If there is no BIN, there is no way to sell the domain outright to an anonymous bidder. A time limited auction is restarted everytime a new bid is placed - anonymously or in full disclosure.

I hadn't thought through the implications of my comments though, and for the sake of their never being accusations of foul play, time-stamped public bids are the best way to go.

I will change the thread accordingly.
