Talking ヱ.com single character katakana

ヱ ia the single character katakana for the sound "we"

The 'we' katakana is considered rarer than the other katakana in usage. This could create a potential upside for brandability.

785,000 google wordcount

Keep in mind that single character katakana in the .jp extension are not allowed.

The .jp registry guidleines clearly state:

"Categories of Reserved Japanese Domain Names..." ----- "Single characters in Hiragana, Katakana, numbers written in Chinese characters, prolonged sound symbols, and others."

I believe this creates higher value for the single character katakana .com extension.

According to the "National Language Support Guide and Reference" section of IBM's website found at the link below:

"Kana-To-Kanji Conversion (KKC) Technology

The Japanese Input Method's (JIM) KKC technology is based on the fact that every Kanji character or set of Kanji characters has a phonetic sound or sounds that can be expressed by Katakana or Hiragana characters.

It is much easier to input Hiragana or Katakana characters than Kanji characters. The JIM analyzes the phonetic values of the Hiragana and Katakana characters to determine the best Kanji-character equivalent. Such phonetic analysis depends on the dictionary and tables provided to the JIM."

I believe since fewer keystrokes are required to enter this character that it has higher value over a single character kanji. Also there are less than 150 hiragana and katakana characters combined, as oppsed to 1700+ single character kanji in use. Hence, rarity creates a higher value.

The average Japanese person may not know know all the kanji in use by heart, but they most likely know most of the kana. This is my completely ignorant assumption of course.
