Re: IDN Forum Members - Introduce Yourself

Hi! I am a graduate student in Engineering, I was introduced to domains world last year (10 month ago) when I found out about namepros.com. I like your forum, and I am curious to learn more about IDNs. I own around 50 "normal" domains, but I like the ideas of IDNs. I am interested in Arabic domains specifically. Hope to see people who have same interests!

Welcome to IDNForums, aboujouj83.

Glad you found this place. Many of us have a good bunch of Arabic names. Plenty of opportunities still.

Hello, I'm new here as well and thought it would be better to introduce myself to you all. My name is Juan, I'm from Argentina, and even though I started registering domains around 1998, I consider myself a newbie. I've gained great interest in IDNs in the last few months, and most of my registrations have been IDNs since then. This forums seems like a very valuable source of information, and I expect to learn from here, receive advice, help in those cases I can, and maybe even do some business.

Thanks for your time, talk to you all soon.

Hello Juan,

Welcome onboard!

Don't worry, it doesn't matter when you started domaining, we have the magic to make addicted to IDN :-)

Once again, welcome to the Millionairs' Club of the future.

Wot is the name, many will know me from other forums.

Just over one week in to IDN's though I did pick up BackorderIDN(s).com and IDNS.tv a while back.

Living in Thailand and have looked locally picking up around 30 names including:

รายได้.com income/revenue xn--l3c1ac4dxe5a.com 865,000

รวม.com affiliate/link xn--y3cdm.com 2,740,000

พิซซ่า.com pizza xn--c3ca9c5dh6j.com 14,000

แลกเปลี่ยน.com exchange xn--12c2cf2amc6itdg0f.com 679,000

วารสาร.com Journal xn--03cakn2bc.com 1,000,000

แปล.com to translate XN--S3CU6F.COM 626,000

Looks like I will be back here to learn more.

Re: IDN Forum Members - Introduce Yourself

Hi Everyone

Chaumi here from the UK.

Only got interested in domaining around a year ago, and have learned some hard lessons with a current portfolio of around 800 'English' DNs, though one .de poker name regd new last June gets enough type ins to cover the whole lot!! Talk about lucky!

So I saw Dave Wrixons posts elsewhere last year on IDNs - and didn't understand the opportunity until recently.

Dave, Olney, Edwin et al...thanks for all the info on your posts. Wouldn't have got anywhere near understanding it without that help.

Up to around 90 now (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Russian), all regd new over the last 4 weeks.

If I've got the translations right, I have:

手提电脑.com Laptop Chinese
運航.com Flight Japanese
數位的.com Digital Chinese
x级.com x rated Chinese
在线消息.com and .cn Online news Chinese

...and many more similar.

Most taking what looks to be a handful of type ins per week, though guess this could be IDNers searching! спора.com (spore) in Russian is taking well above average, I'm assuming this is gamers but guess there could be other meanings.

Hope I can learn enough here to contribute effectively.

Chaumi

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and from the UK. I’ve started registering a few domains, I would be interested to hear what people think of domains with symbols (assuming they are not taken away)....as I have some below.

£converter.com
£shopping.com
£search.com

great forum……

Welcome to the forum. There are still some good IDNs to be found and registered so don't waste any time. Watch for good sales here and take advantage. You don't want to say "if I had only registered a few IDNs" a year from now!

Do you mean a spammer?

Question....doesn't someone need to "register" to get on the forum or can that be sorted out by a program?.

If so, how about adding turing codes for registration...

A very specific type of spammer - an SEO Bot. An SEO bot has the purpose of dropping backlinks on high-ranked forums in order to attempt to increase the ranking of their / their client's site(s). If you will notice, every one of these BOTS posts a fairly general message (although some are getting contextual), and they leave 1 - 4 backlinks, typically in their signature or post.

The vBulletin forum software is so widely used that there are bots programmed specifically to navigate the registration, respond to the registration email, log in, and post - it all happens in less than a minute, generally much faster. They generally never post more than 1 day, although they might leave more than 1 post - normally they only leave 1 post and never come back under the same account name.

.

Just change to reg page file name and or mod the reg form a bit and it all looks like greek to a bot. Bots stopped

Yeah. Change the variable names to something non-obvious, and they'll be screwed.

Hello Everyone,

This is Phio from Malibu, CA

My IDN count is 600+ and rising. Although fairly new to IDN's, I think the potential for an IDN explosion on the market is favorable. I have recently visited se asia, and found that the internet was available and working fine even in some non-tourist areas. I skyped my friends back home from a small island in thailand (flawless) in an internet cafe. I have found that while there is a great wish for many in asia to learn english, many of them would like to use there own language typing skills on the internet. I am currently interested in site developement, creating effective blogs and affiliate programs for my IDN's.
I would be interested in sharing blog material and language exchange in several languages. Anyways, that's enough for now.

Hi phio
welcome to forum, 650 idns is impressive. Most of us here agree with you on the huge potential of IDNs. Look forward to seeing some of your development work, there doesn't seem to be many affiliate programs for IDNs, please share if you find any good ones, especially Thai. :)

There are a few Thai affiliate programs but they convert horribly. Don't bother.

Yep - the Internet is available even in non-tourist areas in Thailand. You sound surprised, did you imagine Thai people didn't have any need for the Internet themselves?

Get away :) No seriously, although that statement would win "blindingly obvious statement of the year" award on this forum, there are many people outside the forum that still don't realize this simple truth, and imagine everyone in the world only sit at ASCII keyboards and type lovingly in English all the time. How sad...

Welcome anyway, which languages are your IDNs?

Hi,
Which languages are you most interested in?

As a forewarning, watch out for the barrage of PMs offering you word lists for sale. If there were any good domains on those lists, people would have already regged them for themselves.
