You do not have to be present to have your domains in either the auction. You can attend, for a fee, and we’d love to see you!

Recommendations:
• Have low reserves (Your minimum take home amount. The commission & escrow will be added). The bidders will see a price range the domain is priced, not the reserve amount. If the reserve amount (with commission) is not met, there is not a sale.
• Put in category & statistics – any and all information can enhance the value of your domain.
• Have low reserves – If it’s priced to high to begin with, it’s difficult, to impossible, to bid up the domain, if it even makes it in.

There will be about 3,000 domains in the silent auction and about 250 in the live auction. Portfolios will be in the silent auction only.

FYI – Regarding the agreement, it only applies if your domain(s) are in the auction. It’s a 60 day exclusive for Moniker.com to sell your domain. We buy and resell your domain as part of the escrow procedure, not for any additional profit. Escrow services are included in the 15% commission.

We want to promote /publicize IDN's - all of us will want to submit our best names, however, best is in the eye of the beholder!

If IDN's are successful at Traffic it can only be the first step on the ladder,more doors will be open. We know that probably the best IDN's are owned by members here.

Choose a number of the best IDN's from the members , by vote or whatever.

Menbers submit the chosen ones , (most likely to succeed) , the domaining world will see the value of IDN's and off we go.

Anyway, it was just a thought, getting two people to agree is difficult enough.

I can see this as good or bad. Good as we got a definitive answer to IDNs being included. But bad knowing what's at stake. Between this time and that auction two very big things are going to happen in the Asian side of things and the deadline is before both of them.

Exposure is great. But I can almost promise that all the IDNs will go to silent auction after seeing the reaction of the organizer of TRAFFIC and the participants.

But again, I think that if you are willing to take this risk of the majority of the participants not knowing anything about IDN whatsoever go for it.

I'd also like to hear about that seven figure hebrew deal that Monte talked about on his show.

My gut feeling is that the (ascii) domain investment crowd is not going to get much excited about paying a
"fair" price even at this stage for IDNs until there is proven traffic and some revenue to back them up. JMO

Interested in others opinions too.

I'm in total agreement with this.

There is only so many times that you can show people that these domains do get high SE rankings, do have bids, do have overture and some with extension that is quite high. And tell them the only reason for no type-in's is because of the very thing that's going to hit between now and then.

Then have the organizer at the same time say revenue stream "who cares" about .mobi and then say it will take years to get interest in IDN in almost the same breath. I'm a little skeptical.

It's just not enough time for this first auction. I'm sitting it out myself.

I think if we place a few decent domains up there with enough stats (ovt, Google, trends, etc), we may be surprised.

There are folks interested in IDN besides the ones who hang out here.

But yes, definately agree that it's too early and too little "prep time".

All joking aside, I'm sure some of us can find a name or two that we could put up with a small reserve to get this thing rolling.

Weighing the good vs the bad, this could turn out to be a good thing, attracting some positive attention to idn for a change.

The people that are interested in IDNs are here at IDNF. We have already seen how the DNF ASCII crowd react to IDNs. My opinion is that in the short term (next 6 months), you will not see any decent IDN sale prices gained at such ASCII-orientated auctions. There aren't going to be any mystery buyers turning up with fat cheque books .....

i think most here can afford to put a good name or two for that purpose even if it is considered to 'lose' the name...as this opportunity was not available before and i think it isn't right to judge it based on recent previous discussions (i wish it was just discussions).

i personally will participate and regardless if the domain will sell or not...it might be an 'eye opener' to many that just never got to look into idn's for whatever reason up to this point.

I agree , it seems that we want to sell/promote them but too scared of adverse reactions. I don't have any blockbusters but there are plenty here who have.

I think the most positive outcome, for IDN generally, would be if there were a fairly even mix of idn.com and idn.cctld submissions and some of them made it to the live auction.

I personally think we are going to struggle at this venue unless there is some attempt to introduce and explain the concept of Global domaining. I suppose it is going to be difficult to talk about the prospects of dot Asia, unquely in the context of an American Market, but as this extension is initially launching in ASCII only, as far as I am aware, I doubt whether the hype around it is going to accompanied by much market awareness. I would suspect that people will be scrambling to register ShavedBeavers.Asia, etc.

When was the last time you saw a dot JP go for big money at TRAFFICS, let alone an IDN? There appears to be a massive information gap. Even if these domains make it through to live auction, not much is going to happen, unless either some of the attendees have come fresh and fired up from Domainfest Global, or there is at least some rudimentary effort to get the attendees up to speed with a Seminar or two. At the moment, that looks as likely as snow in Singapore!

Having some listed (if they make it) would at least introduce the concept to a few soles who might not be familiar.
We never know what they are going to present at TRAFFIC but a rep signed up here to personally inform members that they could submit domains.
I don't know how others are looking at it but it's a good first step. It's only the first time (that I know of)...

i have a few acii ill submit and might be able to find a few idns that could make it too i guess its worth a try at least they will know that idns are out there and are being accepted more and more.
