Even a fully functional mobile phone site built on an idn. Nice list. RD.

Great list RD... now if only some of these big sites would market themselves in IDN.

Vista has ads all over tokyo and complete dedicated train carriages which are stickered with Vista logos. Any time now...

Still waiting for critical threshold. Simple fact is Asia doesn't have it yet. And wont until IE7 is an automatic update; as soon as that hits it will happen. But you are right. Any time now..

Any updates on the IE7 AU Bonanza in Asia?

For the first time in 8 months, i've actually had an entire weekend where I could not find a thing to do to help my IDN portfolio.

Guess it might be a waiting game here on out?

Last we heard from Micro$oft in November was spring for the AU of the Asian languages. March 21 is the first day of spring. Although with Vista already being out, and not any major breakdowns of systems, I don't see why M$ can't speed things up.

Is it just a coincidence that the next IDN meeting by Icann is the 26-30 March in Lisbon, Portugal; or the day before the first day of spring?

Sounds like good news to me. I'm waiting for the new browser stats to be released for February and hopefully we'll see the sharpest incline of the IE7 adoption curve over the next 3-4 months.

Without critical mass these Japanese corporations are not going to start marketing their IDN domains. Search Engines are crawling up the wazoo with IDN entries though.

Umm - time prehaps to tell Dr Know he better hurry up for the Asian browser before misses the boat...
Unlike operating systems - there are some real competitors in the browser area as I know you know...

Cheers - Asiaplay

Re: Time for Serious Japanese Content?

Maintaining control of the Browsing market is the key to Microsoft's future, not some expensive touch screen that thinks its a coffee table.

Frankly, it really matters not now whether MS delivers the goods or not, the IDN genie will be out of the bottle real soon. Other browsers will simply be sucked in to fill the vacuum.

Of course competition in the Ad Serving market is highly desirable, but where we are going Microsoft is going to be about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!

Not disagreeing with you in order of priorities. However in order of sheer coolness SURFACE can't be beat. That is one amazing coffee table, I must say, I want one in my house so badly. I have read that they have already received tons of orders for it commercially. I wouldn't be surprised if one day some version of them become the workstations of the modern office.
