Duck what do you have against the U.S. colonizing Iraq. We already are building a huge base there the size of 40 football fields. It's already the 51st state ;-).

It ironic that when Britain and France was trying to secure the Suez Canal to maintain security in the Far East, the US sold them down the river on the grounds that it felt colonialisation could no longer be tolerated. Now look where we are fifty years on.

Perhaps we should have more sympathy, but frankly the immediate aftermath of the war was such a shambles and the morality of US interest at that time so very questionable, it is difficult to see how the US can ever establish the moral high ground now that things have been allowed to degenerate so far.

There is nothing we can do in Iraq. That is for sure. What we did was remove a person in power that was able to keep these two religious factions from killing each other in the streets.

What we have done is create a religious civil war, that we have no hope of winning or stabilizing. And neither does the inadequate current Iraqi government and military.

The only problem now? One of these religious extremists groups will come out the victor after they are done killing themselves and go after us and/or those involved. But who's fault is that? Frankly, I think our soldiers should be handing out maps of Texas with a big star marked "Retirement Home" to these guys.
