Not sure if this is what you want, but try...
お茶の店.com
But, if you can find great keywords with good OVT and google results, why stop?

A search for the IDN in google, displayed the site listing, after clicking the link to "Find web pages that contain the term "お茶の店.com." Guess it depends on if you search for the domain itself or text in the website.

IDN's that are ranking #1 or at least first page of google
“IDN's that are ranking #1 or at least first page of google” does not mean a lot…
Because you take your own making_word_domain and put on SE, your domain will be ranked top and only one at that page…
I understand that URL (or domain) scores 10 out of 100 points from search engines. Link popularity gives 30 points score. Page title scores 10 points, headlined or stressed text in page gives 10 points, normal text in page gives 10 points, image alt description gets 10 points….and 15 points scored text or link word that related with same page, out pages and same_and_out sites……rest factors are 5 points like meta description and meta keywords.
This means your IDN(or ASCII domain)can not get more than 10% of total page rank score even if it has the best performance.
It you want ..... 승화원 ..... in google ,yahoo shows second or third row at the first page....

i meant the national script without the .com
like "web hosting" in japanese etc... Please don't give silly responses ... I never said IDN.com or .jp... i said a idn.com or .jp showing up when a japanese word is typed into google etc WITHOUT the ext.
The rest of your answer also makes no sense... You can have a site with one page and have a pagerank of 5 with sites linking to it. I've run very popular sites that have been in the news etc and have experience in the field. Besides the algo isn't even public and I've heard every version of it so far lol

Jeff, i think Hanidn answered your question. Anyway, since you are an old hand in SEO, you should know that Google's algo always changes.

For 3 word/character keywords, Google places a higher priority on URL/title relevance - that was 2 years ago, the algo might have changed now.
The good thing about Far Eastern Languages is, there's no penalty on spacing. Hyphens are not required to get the best results.

What i meant was that for a keyword like "life insurance", lifeinsurance.com has a ranking penalty as it does not have the space (or hyphen in between).

true but who really cares as you don't really see hypthens.com going for sale alot...
lifeinsurance.com would fetch over 100k (has all the value)
anyways, it would be a professional looking site to advertise on adwords... nobody would go to a hypten site most likely.

First you can't see them using Google.com
You have to use the international versions.
Go to Google.co.jp
日本語ドメイン - Japanese Domain
comes up number 10.
Most of the Japanese ones are just redirects to make it easy to use.

Excellent example. 6 out of 240,000 results with a PR0 and as best I can tell not particularly SEO-friendly text.
We may - and I stress MAY - end up being shocked at just how much the search engines will lap up IDNs backed by real sites.

Well perhaps I am an incurable optimist, but that has been my working assumption and part of my argument for IDN for sometime now.
ASCII just cannot deliver the SEO goods in Asia!
That will be the main driver for site converting wholesale from ASCII to IDN. It may even be that on local search engines there is positive discrimination against URLs with no local language text. In other words a site with a local URL, but no relevant keywords might feature in a search wheras a site with ASCII URL, even with apparently relevant keywords may not.
