I have been thinking and I feel it is absolutely ridiculously for this forum to decide on what it thinks are offensive domains. Personally, I think the whole swastika.com thing got completely overblown. To put it bluntly, it is a FREAKING domain!

Simply owning a domain does not mean that you plan to use it in a derogatory manner.

I would like to see anyone on here pass up an $8 registration on any of the following domains:

Nazi.com
swastika.com
Kill.com
Devil.com
Death.com
Murder.com
Hitler.com
Anarchy.com
Osama.com

These are only but a few examples.

I remember when Pope Benedict became the pope an online casino was interested in purchasing popebenedict16.com to start an online casino. I am Catholic, would that have been offensive? Yes, but it is the nature of the Internet. Blame the system if you wish, but don't blame the individual. Personally, if I would have registered the domain (swastika.com) if I had the opportunity.

From wikipedia: "The swastika is a holy symbol in Hinduism, Jainism, Heathenry and Buddhism. In the West, it is more widely known as symbol of Nazism."

Enough said.

Whoever would even think of registering the swastika is an idiot trying to profit off of the whole ordeal.. He clearly put "swastika" . He has a sick mind plain an simple.

In order for this forum to remain professional I don't think "crap" should be allowed to be sold here.

I apologize to edwin and others as I didn't know that there was a nickname for japanese people that was offensive.. I never use it anymore.

So you guys are clearly saying you can do whatever you want to jewish people but not to other nationalities/etc?

The other names you listed above has no relation to the swastika! (except nazi.com )

Also nazi.com redirects to holocaust.org (a parking page)

BTW, cigarettes.com promotes quitting smoking. (A good use of the domain, even if it is for PPC profit).

Yes I did and its not just a domain. Its a powerful symbol... its still a swastika.
I cannot believe the behavior of you and idnowner. Do you have any idea how many Jews died in the holocast? Not one jewish person is going to buy that domain or touch that symbol. Just thinking of registering that name shows the person has a sick mind.

Those that don't see this are also anti jewish and its sad to see how lame some people are.

The nazis are springing out from everywhere!

Idn, idnowner

impressive!

This behavior is ludicrous.. I can't believe most of you support selling these horrible symbols.

Jeff. Would it make any difference if I were Jewish?

You are like talking to a four year old. Seriously. You COMPLETELY missed the point.

I am done posting on this thread. I'll let you drown in your own stupidity.

Can't help making the comparison between the controversy this domain has sparked and the Muslim riots over the Muhammad cartoons.

its amazing how the whole forum has agreed not to call japanese people by certain words but its "OK" to use symbols that have symbolized jewish hatred for years. Yes I know there are alot of sites like these on the internet but that doesn't mean you're right. . This guy supports nazism as he promoted it as a swastika in his sales post. He's trying to profit off the sick history of germany.

The professionalism here has swooped to an all time low. I hope some others will back me here.

Jeff, stop right there with the personal, unfounded, accusations that I support Nazism.

I support IDNs. Period.

The swastika doesn't belong to Hitler or the Germans - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika.

It is a buddhist and hindu symbol, whether clockwise or anticlockwise. You can find the symbol everywhere in Asia, on buddhist books, in restaurants, on ambulance, on hospitals, etc.

Even tho I'm really pissed that people tried to jump me in all directions with nonsense I'll put of this thread. Regarding other versions of the symbol.... I didn't know it was sacred in Asian countries. Usually in the U.S. it is always a nazi symbol. Instead of telling me peacefully the answers were childish.

My first impression is, it is a buddhist symbol.

The Nazi cult association is only a recent invention in the West, and has nothing to do with the origins of the symbol.

Ok, explanation done, final post.

卐 is a sacred sign in Asia, exactly the way the West think of the Cross.

Thanks to the internet, now we can see how differently the West and the East think on the same object.

I am not interested in debating whether we should or should not sell any particular domains at this forum, I am more interested in observing what language people use in the debate.

blastfromthepast and idn are gentlemen!

Just going to add my 2 cents...

I'm Jewish as well, born in Israel and I'm not offended by this domain. It's a symbol, pure and simple. Anything can be used as a symbol of hate. If can't affect you if you don't let.

I understand that some people are very offended by the symbol..
I don't think owning the symbol makes the owner a supporter of any group but I did delete the sale thread.

I for one understand having a sysmbol that represents hatred to your people seen right in your face.

This thread is now locked....
Let's move on & not take any personal feelings out on BlastFromThePast.

Truthfully I own slangs I don't like in Japanese associated with my race.
