I hate to say this but we have to make a decision about these novelty domains.
I like others really don't want to start a novelty IDN trend of domains that no one can type.

In other words, you only want Japanese/etc. whole-word domains listed here? I thought this was a forum for all IDNs. There was some discussion here a while ago about even creating a separate forum for symbol domains, which I'm particularly interested in.

The point about this one is that it is easy to type - from a regular english or french keyboard. It's an English IDN.

It's your forum, so you have a chance to set a few gentle guidelines before things get too busy. Personally, I agree that it would make more sense to limit domains to regular word character set characters i.e. the letters (and numbers) that can realistically be used in a given language to make up words. Keeps things on a more professional basis, and the more professionalism we can inject into the IDN industry at the beginning, the better it will be for everyone going forward.

In Japanese, for example, that would be the 50 Hiragana, 50 Katakana, the romaji (western) alphabet and the Kanji. For Russian, it would be the 33 letters of the Russian alphabet. And so on.

How much did it sell for ? I think these names have alot of potential and some people are over looking there SEO potential in the near future... but i think they should just get there own section, I dont think its a big deal when a person isnt trying to con somebody and having them beleive it is something else that its not, but thats just my 2 cents

I think they are fine as long as they are restricted to a section that clearly says NOVELTY. In that way no one is being misled in anyway and we are catering for all tastes. They are not the dreaded mixed scripts so they are not registered with the intention to deceive, but we should also not present them to Newbies as being what Domaining 2.0 is all about.

I think that the novelty domains are kind of like the trading cards of Domainers. You buy them on impulse. You buy them for fun but usually at the end of the day you are stuck wondering... What the heck am I going to do with this? Still it looks neat and that makes me smile which is often enough of a reason. :)

Instead of appraisals maybe people could give them a Fun Rating? Show how much they like them etc. You could create your own sub-culture, sub-genre here based on the trading card concept.

If you make a novelty section I think it should be posted very very clearly that any domains that can be percieved as 'decieving' in any way, shape or form will be not be tolerated.

Anyone posting something that could be used for phishing should be given the perma boot in my opinion.
