Onlypunjab.com published an article about a "new concept", namely: Don't park it, embark it (http://onlypunjab.com/fullstory2k7-insight-Domain+Parking+Industry-status-18-newsID-31690.html).

Summary
www.domainembarking.com gives you:
1. Free membership/tools/hosting
2. Multimedia content
3. Daily Update of your content
4. No duplicate content
5. SEO

It is not clear of they provide content in other languages than English.

I heard the owners were scammers.

Anyways, I tried it for 2 days. Moved my domain back to parking.

Never transfer your names to anyone!

I don't like the idea of necessity domain name transfer to them.

Hi guys,

I just want to clear some things up by what I am reading here.

1) You do NOT have to transfer your names to Domain Embarking in order to use the service.

2) We are currently supporting English, and Spanish sites, we are planning on Chinese sites next with full utf-8 support.

3) scammers is a strong word, please read all the facts before making up your mind. Please read our owners web page for the full story, after reading it you make up your own mind. http://www.addisonbbachman.com

I'm not making any accusations; Just posting what I heard.

The service is revolutionary, but did not work well with my Arabic IDN.

You can't make statements like that without some kind of backup based in fact.
Who told you this? What was the scam? Who got scammed?

DETech, thank you for the correction about the following:
You do NOT have to transfer your names to Domain Embarking in order to use the service.

I've corrected my message.

Wrote it in a rush. Let me get some sources:

http://www.namepros.com/parking-and-traffic-monetization/322353-anyone-use-domainembarking.html

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff229656.htm
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff191610.htm
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff205613.htm

Not making any judgments. Just passing along information that I read. Didn't mean to offend anyone, but some issues must be addressed for the benefit of potential users and forum members.

I WOULD be interested in using this, but I had to pull out my domain due to UTF-8 not being supported with the RSS feeds. Any information on that?

Could not agree more. Lets get that issue out in the open and let everyone decide for themselves. He isn’t hiding, his name and contact info is plastered all over the internet and he does have a very colorful background and life experience. In fact, (as stated previously) he published a website so people could judge him by his own words. www.addisonbbachman.com That’s all I can say about him, besides the fact that I work with him and like the man.

Your UTF-8 issue, we will get this working for you, we just have sooo many other things on our plate.

Curious if he has make even partial restitution to anyone published on the ripoff report?

Well this is the way, I have got it ripped.

I know my Phone Company are a load of dishonest bastards, but I still use them.

I have paid for two domains to be designed. Couldn't be arsed to do it myself. If they make money then I shall do some more. If they don't I won't.

I am playing with my tiny low grade Spanish Portfolio. Confusing a search engine isn't exactly breaking anyone's rules except those that Google sets for indexing sites. I very much doubt that subscribing to this service is going to get you seriously busted. If I have a whole load of indexing problems on this small portfolio as a consequence then so what. They aren't exactly keeping me in Pina Coloda's now!

If this guy rips me off then I switch the nameservers back.

I think it has to be worth a try. Especially if he is prepared to tackle the Chinese Market in a serious way. If he can crack Baidu, never mind Google then we will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Bottom line is this business model doesn't put him in a strong position to rip anyone off. He has little to gain and a lot to lose.

Thanks Rubber duck for your insight.

With all due respect, I can not answer for him beyond what I’ve posted here. But I can help you with any further questions regarding Domain Embarking.

A few things about the service:

1) Members sharing income with other members is very "hippy", but is never going to work out. Domaining isn't a group sport.
2) It' going to be years before they expand properly beyond the English language.
3) (And this is a real problem). They say "Every name is cross linked within the Mass Opinion Network to obtain maximum PageRank". That, by any other name, is a "link farm" and expressly against Google's webmaster guidelines. By providing such a service and by explicitly advertising such a service, they risk getting the entire set of domains participating thrown out of Google SERPs.
4) They claim in their FAQ that "you have to pay monthly fees to park with many of the top parking providers.". That is just a plain lie. I have used a dozen or more parking poviders since 2002 and never been charged a single fee by any of them. Should you really trust a service that prints such blatant lies in their FAQ?

We all love to dream a service will one day come along that means we can just click a button and a lovely, unique content-rich, search-engine-friendly website will suddenly appear, and we never have to put any real work in.

It's a reasonable idea, but cookie-cutter solutions will never be able to beat well-optimized "real" websites.

And by the way, not only do you share income with other members, you also give 50% of adsense income to the service provider.

I am here to support people with questions about the service not in argue the fundamental principles. Although "Guru", The Earth is round and Embarking is the ship that will prove it.

Well the earth isn't round but I'l gloss over that ...

A "basic principle" from Google's webmaster guidelines:

Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank.

and your service says:

Every name is cross linked within the Mass Opinion Network to obtain maximum PageRank

By ignoring such a potentially fatal flaw in your service and instead giving me some waffle about the shape of the earth, I'm astonished. Are you sure the earth isn't flat?

I think so as well, i don't do my sites, even though i could. If the sites can't pay for themselves and the cost of doing it, plus the cost of managing the people that are doing it, it's not worth doing.

Sorry to bring an old thread alive, but is anyone using this? If so, with any results?

This is one company I would like to see turning into a domain parking company: http://www.kosmix.com/
