You said; 软饮料.cn Soft soft drinks (soft drink(s) should be 软料.cn - this is soft soft drinks where 2nd character literally means soft as in reverse of hard - uses traditional characters for HK & Taiwan only - really is a little strange for a .cn to use non-simplified characters, as is the mix of characters being a little strange)"

Thanks for your comment. But 软料 does not have many results in search.
What about this?

Hi again,

I might have made an error on this one... apologies..

I must admit this is starting to get a little outside my actual knowledge... as I do not know exact terms used in Taiwan & China for this sub-category of soft drinks (I will need to check with a Taiwanese friend & Mainland as well perhaps).
As wondering now if it is actually a term used in China as well as Taiwan... will have to check...

However it is not used in Hong Kong as far as I know... and is definitely a sub-group / sub-category of soft drinks that is referring to caffine rich drinks or cola type drinks only (red bull & colas)

Interesting enough the largest cola brand in China - Feichang kele is shown on this list... so maybe this term is also used in China.

I gain this idea on it being a subgroup from the fact that all drinks listed in the category are cola / caffine type drinks (basically redbull & colas).

If you are working on a specific project PM me and I will help you check (and keep it confidential)... as the beverage market I personally am not interested in, so no worries for you.. ok...
If you are just buying up domains - then the fact it appears in Wiki-pedia as a subcategory would suggest it is useful for the cola market (in Taiwan at least and probably China as well).

Hope these comments are useful and sorry I do not have a 100% answer for you on which countries this term is definitely used in at this stage (it is the problem when Western type products like cola and coffee enter the Chinese language - sometimes they enter with a strange new word - smile - and it is a little specialised for my level of Chinese.. but come to think of it - are these called colas or caffine drinks in English - even this I am not sure - lol !!!).

Great to see you are doing a deal of research before buying IDNs - great!!!...

Thanks also for asking for clarification - cheers, Asiaplay

Agree 100% - since the source of this is a China based website

Remember Wikapedia is a little dangerous as all HK (Cantonese), TW (Traditional Chinese) and China Mainland (Simplified Chinese) terms end up mixed-up, given that it is a "Chinese" version of Wikapedia (rather than it being a Cantonese, Taiwanese or Putonghua individual Chinese version - and often terms in these three locations are 100% different - even worse than American & British English really... as sometimes they choose to be different for no reason other than to be different!!!).

Personally if naming this sub-category - I would have used the character YIN from KAFEI YIN (which means literally "coffee" "caffine" to make the new sub-category.. but heah - soft verse hard makes logical sense to someone I am happy to call dumb who made this choice and made it what seems to be a new legitimate word.. hehe - opps.. I shh now).

So I change my opinion - I think will be useful as well (just maybe a little technical for awhile before becomes mainstream) - therefore (good buy if you market beverages in China & the ultimate drug drink that thank god is still legal !!!)

Cheers - Asiaplay
