I was having an email exchange today with a Japanese friend who sent it from her (Japanese) hotmail account. This was her footer:

Which reads: "Print out your webpages without interruption! Use the handy MSN version of the IE7 brower." It's at the footer of every piece of hotmail I think.
Sure it isn't auto-update but it's one route to get IE7 downloaded. Hotmail I think is still reasonably big in Japan. Olney, any word on whether auto-update has started yet?
