Sorry,

I think Arabic will be just:

ش
ك

For Com and Net respectively. This is the main reason I suspect that Verisign will eventually settle for a fairly arbitrary Chinese representation.

As for the other, it all depends what Verisign's marketing people plump for!

Best Regards
Dave

Hello Dave,

what you wrote are single arabic letters

ش is the letter sh
ك is the letter k

In Greek it would be:

Verisign's current proposals.

We already own both of these symbols in dot com and dot nets.

Dave

.COM means commercial - in Chinese is [ 商業 ]

If .com means company - then company in Chinese is [ 公司 ]

Well, I would very much like to think so. Net.net was an actual sell last year at $100K and com.com has to be worth ten time that amount!

I think .COM is just .控

:p

Actually, i think the best tld in chinese will be just .网. If this happens, it will propel .net beyond .com, at least for idn.idns. Monkey will be very happy then. :)

In any event. .COM as it is will still rule, at least in the medium term.

There's no certainty, especially so when .com stands for commerce, which is 商业 or 商 in short. Commerce refers to both people and companies, while .co or company is specifically for companies only.

Dot Com will be whatever it is Aliased to and approved by ICANN. As China effectively has TM rights over 公司, this is now looking like a most unlikely scenario.

It is, however, the fact that you are part of the worlds strongest Register rather than the Alias that is significant. China is now building a brand around 公司, but Verisign already has the most important brand which is dot com. This is already well know throughout China. There may be some short-term confusion over which Alias to use, but none of this is going to halt the dot com Juggernaut.
