赌场 means casino
娛樂場 means resort

therefore Macau casino is 澳门赌场

Thanks mgrohan, but Google translate gives me Casino for "娛樂場" and Google images seems like it is right....

I think it's used on Macao, as I see all Casinos with that name, althought Casino in Chinese Trad. is 賭場.

Can some native please explain to me, why is that if zh is for Chinese Simpl (and zh-classical for tradicional), why do you have the Macau wikipedia page like this:

and not 澳门 (Macau Simpl)????

娛樂場 (trad.) 娱乐场 (simplified) yu2 le4 chang3

broken down is
娛樂 - 娱乐 : which translates exactly as entertainment.

and

場 - 场 : meaning open space, or market. i.e. 市場: market, 超級市場: supermarket, etc

Putting together 娛樂場 translate to something like entertainment center - better translated as resort. Also it does mean casino, but mostly talking about about actual physical casino/entertainment complexes. And definitely not as good as 賭場. where 賭 : translates exactly to gamble.


Regarding wiki, yes zh refers to PRC (including taiwan). Wiki was (and now sometimes is unaccessible or partly available) on Mainland, and most of the entries come from Taiwanese.
Taiwan is part of PRC and China, therefore the ZH and traditional writing on wikipedia.
You will find most of the entries on wiki are in trad.
Also Macau uses traditional script, not simplified.
