100k sale keeps site on track—Shanghai IDC Network Information Technology Co., Ltd

Domain name news brought to you by Shanghai IDC Network Information Technology Co., Ltd

Track.com has proven its worth to eager buyers, with the moniker attracting one of the year's top domain name sales.

Fetching a round $100,000, the generic domain name became one of October's top domain name sales, while shooting straight into the DomainNameJournal's top 100 sales for the year to date.

A principal selling outlet for Track.com's buyers was its potential for selling the product denoted by its name, for which the site is likely to receive hits from all those inputting their 'track' search straight into the address bar.

Selling and providing links to vendors of model train track, cable track and patented track, the site currently makes full use of the product specificity that sets up a domain name site so well.

But selling the product in question is not an arbitrary limit developers of the site must adhere to – Track.com already contains links to trackers and other devices related to its domain word, showing the potential for further sales once customers are on site.

Selling for as much as $100,000 brought Track.com straight to a tie for 60th place in the DomainNameJournal's top 100 sales for 2007, with the site now in the company of many other generic domain names fetching high prices
