I sent a request to Google to add IDN support to Gmail. All of you and your friends should do the same. Without IDN support in Gmail and other email applications, a fair portion of the market will be discouraged from fully adopting IDNs.

Please report this wherever you see the problem. At your work, to your mobile phone manufacturer, everything which doesn't work with IDN.

Myself and another member here have been trying for a good few months to get them to make Google Maps compatible. It took them months to even acknowledge there was a problem and it's now on the 'to-do-list'

You might wanna try finding all the gmail groups and bring it up there .. though don't expect overnight results

I am not clear exactly what you guys mean by compatible. Can you explain what you mean by "Google Maps compatible"? Is this for some sort of embed?

Yes, to imbed google maps into your site .. You need a key that is generated by inputting your URL .. the key will only work on that site .. Problem being that the generated key using the unicode of your domain name doesn't work. (works with punycode but if say some has your domain show up in their browser bar as unicode then the key won't work)

You'd think it would be reasonably easy to fix but I think not enough voices to matter right now.

It's all fine and well pointing out the obvious ... getting something done about it and trying to change it so it 'does work' is another story ... and the apathy and 'let someone else do it' attitude displayed on this forum is obvious for anyone to see ..

I can spend all day listing things that 'don't work for IDNs' .. it's not gonna get them fixed now is it?

I don't know whether i did the wrong thing, or if sitemap really does not work. Anyone faced the same issue also?

btw, i'm a straight talker, and not so good at cues. This is a small community, please talk directly if you want to say or propose anything.

Another perfect task for our IDN association...
