I believe that this was nothing more than a ploy when people ran out of money to keep regging - they thought if they could sell their lesser quality to newbies then they could get funds to continue working off their to-reg list. When they finished regging their list, then they tried to sell the list to newbies.

I like this place after getting past the newbie phase, but I really don't like that some people here continue to attempt to prey on every new member in the hope they can sell an old list, some crappy names, an e-book, or some "consulting" at x,xxx per half hour.

Just my 2 cents.
1- The e-book offered here will put newbies on the right track quickly and worth many times the price.

2- Most lists sold here are huge, sorted, scored by ovt, bids etc. and more than worth the money. Time is money, and when
you compare the time it would take you find, sort and compile the same it is a value. Many of my best regs came this way
and worth every penny IMO. All lists etc. I bought were deals done with other members here.

3- The x,xxx consulting fees...that is kind of tongue in cheek I think :p

I also think x,xxx for a short consultancy is a bit mad, but come on, nobody is holding a gun to peoples' heads for any of this stuff - its "consumers choice" right? Same as when someone comes to me and says "how much is xxx.com" and I say x,xxx or xx,xxx. Its my name, my time, and my choice of price. If you don't like it, go elsewhere, no problem.

Well, this is how the world today works.

A. WMD.
B. HYIP.
C. Fed inflation figures.
D. AAA mortgage securities.
E. Subprime brokers.

The D guys make millions by scamming and selling worthless MBS, the E guys make hundreds of thousands a year pushing loan shark mortgages.

As long as they are doing nothing illegal, then there is no reason they should not do as they wish, with the proviso that we are always able to exercise on inalienable right to tell them they are talking bollocks. If they wish to push these highly dubious marketing schemes at the forum then they must be subject to robust and open scrutiny from the membership, otherwise we might as well all just sign up for the Official North Korean News Agency.

It is a high price , and really that price is directed to a big company or a major player that wants to come into the game. Our price for the toe dippers is not as steep. Also to be noted that nowhere on our website has ever been a price , we have stated from day one we work on a fluctuating price scale.

Exactly ^^

Some of you guys have acquired the skills already to play in this market from experience. Some people don't have a New York MINUTE to waste if they want to acquire a decent portfolio just starting out. If you want to run a charity service be my guess hold their hands and give them everything they need for free. I on the other hand would like to be partnered with serious players and company's and if you don't like it thats your problem. And also Mr. Jackson our E-book has a very informative Free tutorial if you check out the site with the option to upgrade. But i would say alot of the fundamentals are covered in the tutorial , you want tips, tricks ect that cost's.

This argument appears to have descended into total bollocks talk.

I don't remember anyone asking Jesus Christ or the Lord Buddha whether they were a we or an I, whether they had an LLC or PLC or LTD or partnership ....

I have just spent the last week dealing with 4 people at a very large domain company, and they were incredibly awful and lacking in competency. I wouldn't have paid a single dollar for their advice, even though they generate millions of dollars and have a posh name.

So let's talk about people and what they have to offer, not whether someone has chosen to protect their assets or whatever by forming a company, it just ain't relevant to the inherent value of advice or domain expertise.

Of course this is down to the quality as well as the number of domains per language portfolio, but I'm running in this order so far this month (sorted by visits):

Chinese
English
Arabic
Finnish
Japanese
German
French
Vietnamese
Korean
Russian

All in all, I've been amazingly surprised by my Chinese and Arabic so far this month. Japanese has traditionally been on top for most of the past year.

However, when you look at the total garbage that goes for serious money in English dot coms, is it really so far away? I have seen little evidence in English Domaining complying to grammatical correctness. I have to say that I am not at all convinced that various cases of the noun will not be used. You might consider posting some IDN Sales figures on your site if you don't already do so (you can get them at idntools.net).

I wasn't trying to dissuade you or anyone from investing in them. I sure have a bunch. I'm just puzzled sometimes at the lack of traffic/clicks on a few of these, but if you don't live in a country and can't get into local people's minds, all you can do is wonder...

as far as the lack of traffic..i may want to convince my self with this argument but i think 0 point something will ever try to type-in idn's unless they know of theyr'e existence...so not sure the lack of typeins is a worry at this point...so take 100% users minus 80%? with no browser support and 99% of the reamining 20% with browser support have no knoweldge idn's exist...

No problem. I wasn't sure which version was correct, so I shotgunned the singular and plural terms with full stops. The hyphenated versions were all taken.

بطاقة إئتمان - singular - about 86,100 for "بطاقة إئتمان"
بطاقات إئتمان - plural - about 22,900 for "بطاقات إئتمان"
بطاقة الائتمان - singular - about 457,000 for "بطاقة الائتمان"
بطاقات الائتمان - plural - about 195,000 for "بطاقات الائتمان"

I'll probably keep them for a year and see how things shake out. I believe that the second two are correct or, at least, more correct. However, the first two may have value.

Hey, at least I got a response! No thoughts on the cities?

Now, as free classifieds or not that is the question...
What is really great with classifieds is you got traffic with cars, home, etc... and you can monetize with insurance, loans...
A great market ! It will NEVER be sold !
If it's dropping, do a prayer for me !

Edited: and you know what is the best with classifieds ?
Content is made by people, LOL !

A year and a half ago, the old-timers were saying that the well had dried up.

Nice to see I am not the only one mining. Actually, it is amazing to see what people come up with....

[QUOTE=burnsinternet]No problem.

QUOTE]

I have credit-card these three ways that match your #1, #3 and #4.
Starting to feel like the "golf" thread all over again with numerous domains.
Markits and Hangman, what versions of credit card do you guys have?

Mining IDN is far from being over. Besides the top generics in most languages having been picked, do not underestimate the potential value of niche/compound terms. Less traffic maybe but more potent.

The variations are countless multiplied by the languages you care to invest in.

I can't wait to see what is being registered in 2008! The stuff from hundreds of new native speaking domainers might make us gasp in awe (or even horror).

Anyone starting today can have a filed-day with a bunch of languages.

2008? We'll be getting IDN.IDN

Added fun and excitement! Or, not.

This year was not what I thought it would be. Traffic & revenue finally picked up, and I am not 100% sure why. Things can only get better.

What is "full stop"?
this at the end of the word ا vs this at the end of the word? (dot on bottom) إ

burnsinternet

It separates words like a dash.

We both know that بطاقات الائتمان will squish together بطاقاتالائتمان, correct? So you can separate the two letters with a dash ( - ) like yours بطاقات-الائتمان.com or a full-stop ( ۔ ) like this بطاقات۔الائتمان.com.

I have seen Arabic keyboards with both. I have no idea if either is better. They are just different.

I do, however, get most of my Arabic traffic and revenue to two different domains that use the full stop. That is why I try to register both versions if the words squish together. For example:

لوس-أنجلوس.com --> Los Angeles (dashed)
لوس۔أنجلوس.com --> Los Angeles (full-stop)

لاس-فيغاس.com --> Las Vegas (dashed)
لاس۔فيغاس.com --> Las Vegas (full-stop)
