Hello,

I acquired the domains listed below (1-13) some years ago based on commissioned translations. In the meantime I lost the key and, not knowing Chinese, would appreciate help in re-translating these terms. I am guessing from the low google count that these are not especially good variations of what was originally in English a list of very good generics. Any comments on that would be appreciated too.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
VGemito

I am sorry to tell you that all these words are not Chinese words, they are the "error" characters resulted from the wrong encoding being set on the browser.

When you should be reading a Simplified Chinese page (GB2312), but you set the encoding to Traditional Chinese (Big5) or vice versa, you will get these "garbage" characters.

Do not renew these domains again, let them drop.

If all those punycode of the 'Chinese' characters are correct,

1) 嬴 is WIN or WON in Chinese Traditional, but I don't know the " ヾ " ?

3) 滇華家 - '家' means 'home', seems to say is "滇華's home" (滇華 maybe is a girl's name)

I do not know any meaning of other characters...

100% agree with Giant ~ Do not renew these domains again, let them drop.

I really do not understand

What commissioned translation did you use?

Dear Giant, IDNer, sakillll, touchring:

Thank you all most sincerely for your help.

Disappointing news, no doubt. But your comments allowed me to see that I must have made an encoding error on submission (yes sakillll, Real Estate was on my list). It illustrates for me again the unlimited opportunities for messing up when dealing with unfamiliar languages. This was even more true in 2000 during hasty preparations for the landrush when, if I remember correctly, Chinese and Japanese were the first non-ASCII languages out. I have marked all those "domains" for deletion while, as small consolation, I regd during the checking process 手提電話.net (cellphones 17.3K ovt) from my original list.

Many thanks to all once more!

Best regards,
VGemito
