new meta tag will require you to specify if content should be interpreted and rendered by newer standards; presumably newer versions will approach (but never reach eh) conformance to HTML5 spec. Default behavior is to render pages as IE7 would. Is that weird or what?

Been using (some version of) IE8 for a while now. It isn't great, but not that bad.
