On reviewing my log file, when msnbot (the live search robot) visits sub pages on your site that have unicode in the URL, it double-encodes the unicode, and thus requests pages that don't actually exist and gets given a 404 error.
I've seen if happen on my Japanese sites, with both IDN and non-IDN domains.
If anyone has any freakin idea how to let them know they've screwed up majorly, please feel free to do so.
