Well I haven't purchased a novelty domain yet, so I just had to get this. P.S. Tried to get the euro too but couldn't.

make£.com

Search engine listing might be a problem, but I can see this as a highly brandable domain. That is if dingbats are allowed to stay.

Let me know what you all think.

Nice, I've got a few like that. They won't let you register the currency symbol as the first character however.

Where did you hear about that? I own domains which have the currency symbol as the first character.

I'll clear that one for you guys:

They won't let you register the currency symbol as the first character however.

Replace "They" with "DomainSite" and the sentence is correct. It's part DomainSite registrar algorithm only. Use other registrar and you should be ok.
blastfromthepast: Time to recheck your lists and try the refused ones again. ;)

Thanks Jose, DomainDiscount24.net also fails on these.

sarcle,

I saw that one was available a week or two ago, thought about registering it, decided to leave it for you. :)

I used Domainsite...

What I know is that Domainsite refused me €news.com and €pay.com and dynadot allowed it.

However, take into account that they keep changing the algorithm. I myself was responsable for some changes on dynadot's one. :)

The owner of £.com is smart.

"Visit us soon at: £.com*, or our text-based counterpart, poundsymbol.com
(* To visit £.com, IE7 or later is required, or any other 2006 browser)."

This is exactly how symbol domains need to be played.

yes, i concur it is hit and miss. I tried a variety of £ and € combinations. some work and some have the "red text of death" after paying.

IMHO Good € domains will be worth a lot in the future.

Unlike the dingbaits, the € symbol is part of ALL European countries people's keyboards.

Placement of the symbol is also an example of diversity. While the official recommendation is to place it before the number, people in many countries have kept the placement of their former currencies. This is the case in Spain and France, where people are reluctant to change to a system they find somewhat illogical (writing the currency before, "€2", but reading it after, as in "deux/dos euros").
