Question about IDN.ru

I recently tried to register an IDN.ru domain name. For some reason the registrar said that .ru does not support IDN domain names. Is this true?

Also, where can i find the cheapest registrar to register .ru domain names?

Yea, .ru supported them at one point but now it doesn't.

You might as well wait for the .рф roll-out.

IDN.рф will be available in future. i can't wait to get my hands on it

I don't recommend to use the cheapest registrar.
sweb.ru looks like an inexpensive one. I don't have experience with sweb.
As for me, I would use reg.ru. As a partner of reg.ru you get a discount.
