Hello,

Just wanted to say hello to all members and state that I am an IDN virgin but understand domaining in general....well, after 7-8 years, still trying.

I am happily married and live in Pennsylvania, USA.

I am a .com and .us buyer/collector/developer....and if history is correct, I should be an active IDN buyer....once I understand more.

I have many questions, if someone would mind answering them via pm, I would be most grateful.

Thanks,
Paul

Welcome to IDNF ...Paul.

Please read through the general archives.

There are 8 of us running the forum...but there are 20 to 30 experts that regularly post here.

Please view the IDN archives at icann.org.

Also, please comment on the type of IDN strategy or language(s) that you are interested in.

I focus on China ....learned in college, and in the US Navy in the 80's

then Japan....then Korea,, Russian then Arabic then Hindi..
then German, ...

Others here are very expert in Japanese, Russian, and Arabic....et al...

again welcome......

Steve

I think we are chilling as we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel when for years all we could see were the tunnel walls!

It will be interesting to read New members entering comments going forward...

language trepidation...
lack of cctld trend following.

ICANN doc. hunting....just starting..

hand reg attempts.......one word attempts failing.....99% time....(grin)

vertical / language/ and budgeting strategy....

IDN parking shock.........Sedo induced hair pulling etc....

simple crosscultural curiosity / outlook.........

should be fascinating to see who takes the red pill.......and follows us down this wonderful rabbit hole....

Hello Members,

Thanks for the wonderful introduction.....I truly feel welcomed :).

I have read few comments where folks may be interested in my or any newbies first steps into this world and I would be happy to start a general thread and post my initial thoughts and questions.

Before I joined and after some basic research, I knew I needed widgets/websites with different metrics to measure: Exact/global keyword type-ins; whois info; domain registers; IDN auctions; domain search and language cross reference, etc. etc.

Looks like I already found Jose's IDN.bz.....wonderful site!

If there is any interest, please let me know and I will start a new general thread....if not, no problems...and thanks for the wonderful reception!

Are you trying to scare people away from IDN's? Or just domains in general?

SNAP!

I agree. Read about IDNs here and ask members first. Then read the technical processes on Icann. Their process and papers are confusing and read like an American trying out Russian for the first time.

Seriously, I've had to read and reread sentences from their papers and have them still not make sense. I'm pretty sure I'm not stupid. Lost sometimes, but I know how to reason. It's like they choose to speak in Klingon or something.
