Guys, girls,
I would need some help clarifying the japanese trademark system. Moreover, I would like some input with respect to one specific domain that I own.
1) jp TM
I'm little confused about the system in general because of the duality romaji vs kanji, katakana etc. To my knowledge, a tm is a visual representation, therefore, I don't think that the tradmark holder of "something" in romaji would have any rights to the same "something" in katakana ? Am I right ?
2) My domain
I own a domain that may be a TM infringement and I need the input of someone who knows the japanese culture. The term is, I think, widely used in japan and is a contraction of foreign word. The thing is, I don't know if it is widely used because it's a TM or if it's because it's generic. Please send me a pm if you can help. (PS: Yes I did look at the JP TM registry but I couldn't find anything )
