Please enter all the eu domains to search for in the box below. Domains can be separated by commas or whitespace.

NOTE: Since the EU central registry does not allow IDNs just yet, we cannot check if this domain is actually available or not. EU IDNs only support Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic characters. To ensure that the IDNs you enter are valid, please check them at www.eurid.eu. Also, please see Who can register an EU domain?

NOTE: There are many preorders for the top domains. Failed preorders will receive an account credit, not a refund.

* 10 USD per year administration fee per domain registered after 30 minutes from launch.

Name.com will be participating in the EU IDN launch. The cost at Name.com will be $9.99/year.

How many people have already pre-ordered an EU IDN? We are considering offering a pre-order service if there is interest.

The trustee service is very nice, but need I need a guarantee of a refund if not successful. Otherwise I will have to sit this one out.

Hi Tee1,

Our policy is to issue credits on account for any pre-registrations paid for before the go live date.

After this, if the domain availability or requirements have to be verified with the registry after payment is made, we can issue a credit on your account or a refund if the domain is unable to be registered for any reason - whichever you prefer.

We are offering 100% refund for any domains we're unable to register. So if you pre-reg an EU IDN domain for $9.99 on your credit card and we are unable to reg it for you - you'll receive a refund on your credit card for $9.99.

I hope that clears up our refund policy.

We check our system for already pre-registered domains when you use our pre-order form, so if someone has already pre-ordered the domain it will show as unavailable. If you are able to complete the checkout process then YOU are the client who owns that pre-registration. No one before you placed an order for that domain and no after you will be able to either.

The nice part about that is that the domain will immediately be in your account after launch if we are able to reg it for you, no waiting for a raffle type assignment.

I'd assume yes :-).

At least now I'm forced to use my Dynadot credit to renew some domains that have been sitting red for a while now.

Let us wait til .com .net takes off

.eu now? ;-)

I still remember the whole .ws fiasco. I think it was blast that started it.... all that wasted money :-P. All the domains I let go are now taken tho, so hopefully someones having some luck with them, lol.

I do see more of a point to .eu versus .ws... but only targeted languages.

Almost every decent keyword (even some random ones) are now taken in .eu... jeez?! Were that really that successful?

alexd
10th December 2009, 10:26 AM
Actually, it seems I did better than I thought.

I had pre-regged 9 IDN.eu domains with Name.com.
In my control panel it shows me that 6 of them are "Pending Submission" whilst the other 3 "Failed".

However, having done a check on the whois ( http://www2.whois.eu ) of the 6 that are "pending", my information is in the whois for 3 of them !!

So I am assuming that out of the 9 pre-regs with Name.com, I was able to get 3 of them. A 30% success rate - which can't be too bad.

One thing I did notice for Greek GEOs, was that a large number of Greek cities were unavailable to register, as the domains are "reserved for Member State Greece (GR)". Some such city domains include ...

Αθηνα/Αθήνα.eu ( Athens )
θεσσαλονικη/θεσσαλονίκη.eu ( Thessaloniki )
Βόλος/Βολος.eu ( Volos )

There were also a number of Greek islands as well that we reserved, including ...

Ρόδος/Ροδος.eu ( Rhodes )
Μυκονοσ/Μύκονοσ.eu ( Mykonos )

Out of interest, does anyone know if Eurid reserved such domains for all EU countries, or did the countries in question have to request this ??

In the .EU IDN launch today German lanugage .EU domains with Umlauten (special characters) took the top spots. Also the majority of registrants of the newly released domains are from Germany according to EURid , the registry for the regional TLD. The first domain registered was ärzte.eu, meaning Doctors in German.

As expected the majority of names has been registered through the numerous registrars of realtime.at and will be auctioned at Sedo starting 3pm CEST tomorrow.
