Internet users will be able to access a website simply by inputting the site's Chinese domain name in their IE 7 next year.

Microsoft is to enhance the security performances of IE 7, which supports Internationalized Domain Names (IDN)

Guidelines for Internationalized Domain Names Registration and Administration for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, formulated by CNNIC in 2004 has been recognized and distributed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

Idn's are getting more and more press the closer it gets to launch time.

The number one prerequisite for success is end-user promotion, if IDN's are easier to remember and easier to type the result is obvious 8) .

IDN can't be stopped, the form may be interchangeable but I don't see our names become invaluable because of changes in protocol or whatever, unless domains are dropped alltogether.
