The registry of .LU has announced the launch of Internationalized Domain
Names (IDNs) as of February 1, 2010.
There will be a Sunrise period between February 1, 2010 and March 31, 2010.
During this period only owners of already registered ASCII .LU names will
be able to get the respective IDNs. Thus, this Sunrise period is rather a
Grandfathering process.
Beginning April 1, 2010 IDN registrations will be performed on a "first-come,
first-served" basis.
As a second change under .LU, the registry will remove the local presence
requirement. As of February 1, 2010 domain name holders residing outside
Luxembourg are no longer obliged to give valid power of attorney to an agency
established in Luxembourg for the registration and the management of .LU
domains.
Thus, the trustee solution currently provided by domaindiscount24 is no longer
necessary when registering .LU domain names.
