Rated as long but highly commercial but with no resale value which seems to be a bit of a contradiction.

Anyway, .de is taken, I believe it means "drop shipping' wot say you German aficionados?

Well, it means something like direct shipping from the producer to the customer. Edit: yes, it's drop shipping.

But it's a formal juristic / business term which is completely unknown to end customers. Even I have never heard of it before and had to look it up. :o

Appraisal tools really have to get away from the idea that there is anything "wrong" with long domains. There isn't. The most valuable lesson any domainer ever taught me was that length isn't relevant (still talking about domains here btw). Even the longest domains can get type-in traffic etc.

Sure, for "branding", length is an issue, but for regular domains, they can be as long as you like, well 63 chars, and still have lots of value.

I am sure the term will go mainstream, it simply rolls off the tongue. :p

As for someone in Dubai owning the .de, how many natives own the top IDN.whatever in their native language- most are owned by foreigners, most of whom frequent this forum.
