Can anyone give me a good translation/evaluation of the term 한국의 ?

의 is the dreaded possessive particle. 한국 is "Korea" and the 의 makes it an adjective describing another noun like "Korean movie".

Might still have some value even though it's not a stand-alone term.

Thanks, so you can't say it means Korean without another term which it describes ?

Right. Looks like it's better translated as Korea's or of Korea

"Korean" can be several things:

한국어 - Korean (as in the language)
한국인 - Korean (as an ethnicity)
