This chart seems to be inaccurate. The Japanese information suggests that Softbank (IPhone) has taken the lions share of the market in Japan and that Docomo and KDDI are on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs. This is not the case as Docomo is easily the largest provider in Japan.

I spent some time trying different combinations at the Statcounter (http://gs.statcounter.com) site that collected the data and I have to say that the information there is pretty messed up. Just look at this graph for Mobile VS Desktop use in Japan (http://gs.statcounter.com/#mobile_vs_desktop-JP-monthly-200902-201003-bar).

If they can get that one so very wrong it makes me wonder how accurate the rest of it is.

Keep in mind it is the stats of statcounter which may not be used equally in some countries such as Thailand.
