Well we are patient as we know that after Germany, Spain, France will be booming also.

The market is far larger than other European IDN market as well as the Arab World.
They are 400 M French speakers around (Africa, North-Africa, Belgium, Switzerland, Québec, a.o.)

Final users have already started to buy French IDNs.

Will it be available for residents of France only?

Right now .fr is available to french citizens (whether resident of France or not)

Proposition has been made to open .fr to individuals and companies domiciled in the EU (see "Ouverture Europe" in the .pdf above). Right now AFNIC is at step 4 with this (public consultation). If everything goes according to plan, this change should come into effect in early 2012
