Sounds like things are moving along. "Premium domain" registration is said to be in October and the rules should be fleshed out by August 1st.

in the article on cctld.ru is stated that there will be two phases: one for so called premium registrations/domain_names (left overs)
and the other for remaining domain names. During both phases one will not need to have a trademark etc.
And they still haven't figured out the rules regarding premium registrations.

I wonder what they will come up with next time.

I don't understand why they aren't having the auction before the general registration like they were going to do before the, clusterfuck, or, er, I mean domain sniping. Similar kind of to what .co is doing now.

I would think if they allowed a "landrush" pre-reg and then have the auctions with everyone who pre-registered involved that they would get more people in the auction. The benefit this holds over the .co auction is that the prices they fetch will get major press before the general reg.

And it seems landrush will be open to Russian citizens only, for a year based on the text below. Maybe a native can comment if interpreted it wrong.

They quietly changed the law to exclude domains names from TM proceedings. If you had a domain name and a TM to go with it, you could feel a little more secure about someone trying to take that domain name from you in court. Not anymore.

What it basically means is that your brand new shiny .РФ domain can be taken away in court and your TM won't help.
