Google SERP not functioning properly?

Over the past 2 days when we performed Google SERP, the results have been similar with and without open quotation mark, any one is experiencing the same? What happened?

I've just done a few searches on Google with and without the quotation mark and I am seeing a different number of results and different serps for each.

Are you using Google.com or maybe a local Google ??

I remember reading a while back that Google updated their algorithm with something called "Caffeine" which they were working on for a while now - so maybe this has something to do with what you are seeing ??

We just tried again with google.com google.cn google.jp google.hk, all with identical results with and without quotation mark, for that extension. How to fix it?

Maybe it has something to do with google's personalized search results (?) You may want to check if it's turned on.

If you have a complex query, you may want to try using +"key word" instead of "key word"

For me quotation marks work fine.

All methods tried (off the personalised search results, use "keyword", +"keyword", "keyword ... and still they return same results, and we tried at different PCs and sites to do the searches. Every ordinary words, even 4 character chinese return with xx~xxx Million SERP, which definitely is not normal. What's wrong?

This has been what we are seeing for around 3 - 4 days at least, if it's a problem, google is not fixing it quicky this time.
